Phylogram of fern pairs
This phylogram is based on the similarities and differences in the genetic makeup of pairs of ferns. It has been created to understand how New Zealand ferns have evolved over time. It illustrates that the divergence time between species is younger than the ages of geological separation of relevant landmasses. This supports the hypothesis of long distance dispersal.
