Preparing samples
Analysis of the DNA of plants contributes to species identification. Dr Leon Perrie is preparing small pieces of fern specimen by placing them into a plastic bag containing silica gel. This will allow the pieces to dry. Once the samples are dry, DNA can be extracted.
