Harvesting oysters in Chesapeake Bay
The depletion of oysters in Chesapeake Bay caused the ecosystem to collapse. Chesapeake Bay now has many kilometres of dead zones – hypoxic (low-oxygen) areas where marine life dies or leaves the area.
