Te Matakite observatory measures pressure under the sea floor

To measure fluid pressure at different depths in the borehole, casing (pink pipe) is lowered into the seafloor, guided by a re-entry cone (grey funnel) already deployed. The casing has three tubes (turquoise lines) strapped to it that are connected to pressure sensors (orange zones) at three different depths – above, within and below the fault zone.
