Te Matakite observatory measures temperature and chemistry under the seafloor
The instrument string (orange rope) is composed of several miniature temperature sensors (purple dots), an OsmoSampler (green capsule) to capture fluids for chemical analyses, a flow meter (red box) to measure fluid flow, packers (black horizontal bars) and casing (yellow pipe).
