CO₂ measurements in a grazed paddock

Graph of CO₂ measurements in a grazed Waikato paddock, NZ

This data, gathered from an eddy covariance tower, shows CO2 fluxes (carbon gains and losses) in a Waikato paddock. The initial loss on 21 April is due to grazing. Gains happen when photosynthesis is greater than respiration. As the grass regrows, carbon is gained, as there is more photosynthetically active biomass.
