Tree bark

Bark of New Zealand tree trunks: mataī, kaiwaka and tī kōuka.

The bark of New Zealand trees can be used to support plant identification, especially when the leaves are too high up to see. Pictured from left to right are mataī (Prumnopitys taxifolia), kaiwaka (Libocedrus plumosa) and tī kōuka/cabbage tree (Cordyline australis).
