Image 1 shows two polarised lenses parallel to each other. Image 2 shows the polarised lenses perpendicular to each other – almost no light can pass through. Image 3 shows a non-polarised lens. Image 4 shows a non-polarised lens perpendicular to a polarised lens. The polarised light passes through.
