Cobalt blue glass artefact

Blue nineteen century glass lamp and measurement.

This nineteen century glass lamp was recovered by archaeologists sifting through the foundations of demolished buildings in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquakes. The deep blue colour comes from cobalt. It was found alongside numerous artefacts dating from 1860 to 1870, suggesting it may have been thrown away during this period
