Cobalt blue glass artefact
This nineteen century glass lamp was recovered by archaeologists sifting through the foundations of demolished buildings in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquakes . The deep blue colour comes from cobalt. It was found alongside numerous artefacts dating from 1860 to 1870, suggesting it may have been thrown away during this period
