Bull kelp or rimurapa (Durvillaea species)

Rimurapa is a robust seaweed that grows in exposed coastal areas. The blades float on the surface of the water due to their air-filled, honeycomb structure. For centuries, Māori have used rimurapa for storage, to steam shellfish and even to surf the waves!
