Tamaterau Reserve Weed Action group

Impact of a weed action group - before and after

At Whangārei Heads a group has made huge progress in restoring the remnant/regenerating coastal podocarp-broadleaf forest in a local reserve by removing invasive exotic weeds. Now only maintenance work is required.

Some of the weeds you might recognise in the before picture include jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum), blue morning glory (Ipomoea indica), moth plant (Araujia hortorum), wild ginger (Hedychium sp.) and Taiwan cherry (Prunus campanulata).
