Underside of Pyrameis Itea (ca.1880)
A watercolour by John Philemon Backhouse. Backhouse emigrated to New Zealand from England. He painted a number of Australasian insects in 1880 and the paintings are now housed in the Alexander Turnbull Library. Note that the scientific name Pyrameis itea is no longer in use.
