Looking at seeds and fruits
This activity is a ready-to-use cross-curricular teaching resource. It is intended for NZC levels 2–3. The student worksheet can be printed and does not require internet access, making it suitable for students working away from a school setting.
Kiwifruit seeds
When a kiwifruit flower is well pollinated, it produces plenty of seeds. The more seeds, the heavier the fruit, which is often what growers want.
The purpose is to encourage students to:
match a fruit, vegetable or nut with the seed that is inside it
practise classifying seeds and fruits
explore seed dispersal
explore plant life cycles.
The worksheet also contains a word search and additional literacy activities.
Feel free to edit the Word document to meet the needs of your programme and your learners.
