Careers: Having a hobby you get paid for
Scientists often have a personal fascination with their work. Warren McNabb believes in pursuing your interests, and science has allowed him to do that.

Warren McNabb (AgResearch) You know, some people have a personal fascination for worms, so they work on worms. Other people like the ocean, so they get into oceanography. Other people like snakes, so they get into venomous snakes. I mean, it’s a personal fascination. And it’s a career which enables you to pursue personal fascinations. I think if you talked to most scientists they wouldn’t say they’ve got a job, they’ve got a hobby they get paid for. And that’s certainly true for me. I’ve got a hobby I get paid for.
